Older Workers, 6 Reasons You Aren’t Getting Hired
It’s not because you are old, it’s because you act old.
I’m looking for someone with previous operational and leadership success for a new position. Even though I’m in the older worker category, I am disappointed by how some senior workers act.
Here 6 are reasons I have turned down applicants that happened to be older.
Being allergic to basic technology. So you can write in cursive and drive a stick shift, no one cares. You probably remember what C>dir means. What’s so hard about clicking an icon?
Acting like you don’t need to learn. An extension of the point above. MS Word isn’t hard, Excel is a lot easier than lotus 123 was in the 80s. You don’t need to write code, you should at least understand:

Take a couple classes. Once you get the basics you will find that most programs follow a similar logic.
Being derogatory about social media. It’s where the world lives, get used to it. Get a Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, maybe a tic toc account. OK maybe not tic toc. Use them enough to understand them. Want to visit the kids or grandkids, chances are you will find them there.
