One of my friends that works in healthcare lost weeks of vacation time because of the pandemic. The conditions she endured at work every day was tough enough. The dedication she showed was amazing. She was even OK with delaying vacations.
Now… her for profit medical employer is quoting HR policy, expiring unused vacation with no recourse and no compensation.
It’s corporate theft.
She is close enough to retirement she is just crossing off days. She no longer takes OT or other optional work. She has gone from passionate about her profession to “punching the clock”. And they wonder why staffing shortages are so persistent.
