Totally agree. I spent a decade in not for profits. Parents tried to do community service hours for their kids, wanted to shadow college age kids doing hours, tried to dictate what they did, argued about our rules, one even tried to pay me off. It’s supposed to teach them a lesson and save them a fine or jail. They also seem to forget service hours are documented to the court, faking them in any way is illegal. .
In my facilities they were called community service participants, not volunteers. We had real volunteers that showed up out of an appreciation for the charitable mission. The two groups should not be confused.
